TOPCON BEttOW ATTACHi,IENT, Model tV
The TOPCON Bellow Aitochment, Model lV, is o very superior equipment for use in mocro-
phofogrophy ond hos mony feotures, which hove been incorporoted to help you in using the
equipment with optimum performonce ond eose. One of ifs moin feotures, or will be
exploined fully, is fhe double rocking system, with the upper rocking system being used
for continuously extending the dislonce between lens ond film for determining the scqle of
reproduction os required, while the lower rocking system is utilized for moving the complete
set-up, for odiusting the distonce to the subiect.
Furthermore, the two rocking systems moy be seporoted for independent use, thus doubling
the possibilities for their ufilizotion, with the lower rocking system then being convenient os
on independent focusing system for close-ups, copying work, photomicrogrophy, etc.
Together with other occessories, prepored for use in combinotion with the Model lV, it con
be soid thqt the Model lV is q true professionol fype equipment ond mokes up o very volu-
oble component in the TOPCON System of Photogrophy, centering oround the TOpCON RE

This monuol hos been prepored to ocquoint you with some of the finer points of the Mode!
lV Universol Bellows, ond its specificotions, construction, etc., os well os to give you some of
the bosic focts of mocrophotogrophy, so thot your enioyment in using the equipmenf will be
doubled.
We would like to recomrnend thot you reod this mqnuol through completely before you fouch

CONSTRUCTIONAT FEATURES
One of the chief feotures of the Model lV Bellows is the twin poirs of double roils, which moy
be seporoted ond used independently or in combinotion, for double rocking.
The top poir of corrioge rods, on which the bellows move, hos helicql rocks cut on one rod
f or use in rocking the bellows in ond out, with scoles of reproduction figures f rom 0.5 X to
3 X engroved on the rod for use with 5gmm lenses. The other ploin (without helicol rock)
rod hqs extension scoles engroved for use of the RE. Auto-Topcor lenses ond the Mocro-Topcor
58mm lens, with 5mm scole divisions. In oll instonces, the front end of the bellow fronf
corrioge is used for olignment with the scoles.
The front corrioge of the bellows is rocked farword or bockword with the lorge bellow move-
ment knob. No clomping knobs ore required since the front corrioge will not creep forword
even with the lens ottoched ond the bellows used ln q verticol position. The reor bellow
corrioge moy be freely moved by loosening the reor cqrrioge clomp, in which cose the
comero con be moved forword so thqt the bellows con be bunched ot the forword end of
the top corrioge rods, when necessory.
Two holes or sockets qre ovqilqble on the f;'ont end of the top poir of roils, for inserting
the ottoehment rods of the Mocro-Stond Attcchment or Slide-Copying Attochment. These ot-
tochments moy be fixed firmly by tightening the screw on the side of the front member.
The bottom poir of roils olso hqs helicol rqcks cut on one of the roils, for use in providing
rocking oction to the movoble tripod mount, for use in positioning the occessory (including
top roils with comerq ond lens, etc.). Rocking is undertoken with the lorge tripod mount
movement knob, ofter completely loosening the tripod mount clomping knob first. Once the

occessory hos been positioned, the clomping knob must be tightened securely. Adiustment of
the tripod mount position is very convenient when the bellows hove been set to o certoin
scote of reproduction ond connot be disturbed or when the occessory must be rocked for-
word becouse the tripod connot be moved forword.
The top ond bottom poirs of roils moy be detoched quite simply, by loosening the fixing
screw on the lotter ond then pulling them oport. When ottoching the top ond bottom
roils, first insert the guide pin on the front end of the top roils into its socket on the
bottom roils, then ploce the guide pin on the reor end of the bottom roils into o socket
on the bose of the top roils ond, ftnolly, screw in the fixing screw knob.
The fixing screw of the bottom roils ond the tripod screw socket on the movoble tripod
mount ore mode to the some specificqtions os the tripod screw ond, therefore, con be used
with comeros, tripods, tripod heods, copying stonds, etc.
The front qnd reor corrioge stondqrds <rre very compoctly designed, becouse of the hexq-
gonol-shoped folding bellows which is most efiicient for extensison or controction of the
bellows. Both front ond reor stondords hove boyonet mounts, for ottochment of lens ond
comero respectively. Furthermore, the front lens stondord con occept extension tubes,
reverse-odopter rings, outomotic extension tube, focusing extension tube, boyonet odopters
for the Mocro-Topcor 30mm lens, etc., without influencing the smooth extension/controction
of the bellows ond without requiring clomps for holding the bellows in ploce.
The reor boyonet mount, for occepting the comero body, con be revolved 90 degrees, for
toking verticol formots, but moy qlso be clomped ot ony intermediote ongle, if preferred.
When the bottom roils ore used independently with the comero, the comero is ottoched on
the reor end of the rqils, focing outwords, so thot the reor end will now be the front end,

front end of the comero's bose (of the TOPCON RE Super or RE-2), which will properly
olign the iwo, ond then the fixing screw is tightened to secure the two, or comero ond
bottom roils.
When using the bottom roils on the copying stond, for providing yerticol odiustment, the
comero is ottoched, os nDted obove, ond then the movqble tripod mount is ottqched to the
copying stond. The TOPCON copying stond olso hos guidi pins which ore inserted into
olignment grooves on the movoble tripod mount, for properly ffxing the two.

The reor corrioge of the bellows must, however, be rqcked bock to the reor end of the

be rocked forword with the bellow movement knob ond the scole olignment surfoce, on
the front end of the front corrioge, should then be oligned to the required scqle of
