the adapter sync cable, supplied with the unit.

The leng stop is calculated with the aid of the guide number
or read off against the range on the stop computer, being the
quotient of the formula:
Lens stop : guide number : range
The guide number varies according to the film speed.
ASA film speed 12 25 50 64 80 100 200 400 900Guide number 26 40 52 60 66 72 105 148 210
The white arrow of the stop computer should be set to the
soeed of the film in use. The illustration shows the settino for

BATTERY CHARGING - FLASHING ON AC POWER
Set voltage selector of charging plug to local power voltage.
Insert cord plug in connecting socket (1) of the'unit.
Connect only to AC!
Charglng .is carried out with the switch set to the position"-" and is terminated by withdrawing the plug.
After the flashlight has been used, the battery should be
topped up again immediately, to enable it to r-etain its full
power and keep the flashlight always ready for use.
1 charge ('14 hours) provides approx. 40 flashes.
Therefore, reciarge approx. 4 hours for every 10 llashes.
Even when the flashlight is not used, the batteries should be
charged from time to time, for every battery is subject to
gradual self-discharge. This can be perceived by the increased
length of the recovery time.
Should the recovery time be 30 seconds or more, the battery
should be charged for 14 hours in any case. An occasional
longer charge (up to 24 hours) will not damage nickel cadmium
batteries.
When the charging condition is unknown, e.g, before the unit
is used for the first time or after a lengthy period of non-use,
it is quite in order to give the battery a 12-hour charge.
It is sufficient, however, to establish the shortest recovery time
achieved by the unit after a 14-hour charge and good forming
(see next section) of the flash capacitor. This recovery time
can then be used to gauge the charging condition of the
battery in future.View original page 4Page 6 · Read text
4 www.butkus.us Should the bafleries be exhausted by lengthy periods ol idleness or forgetting to switch the flashlight off after use, their power can be restored by means of a so-called "soak charge" of 24 hours. In such cases, it is specially important to pay attention to good forming of lhe flash capacitor before the unit is switctred on. lf a "soak charge" has no effect, the flashlight should be handed in to one of our customer service workshops. The flashlight can be used on A.G. with the operating switcft in position "-" after the indicator lamp (2) lights up. witch- ing off is likewise automatic upon withdrawing the AC plug. FURTHER MAINTENANCE HINTS - FORMING The best maintenance of all lor an electronic flashlight is frequent use. ln particular, the flash capacitor needs electric curient for the full retention of its function. Therefore, before switching on for the first time or after a few weeks of non-use, connect-your flashlight to the A.C. via the charging plug forabout 20 minutes with the operating switcfi in position "-" and release a few flashes at the same time. This effectively forms the flash capacitor and keeps the flashlight at tull per- formance level. SERVICE AND GUARANTEE Your ULTRABLITZ BAUER E 16 is designed on the most up-to-date principles.
