the rubber cords.

b) A- C ope rotion





The unit is provided for  I.|0, 117, 12'5
volts A-C operotion. No chonge of
voltoge  is necessory within the unit.
Any ordinory line cord (os it is used
to connect on electric iron) moy olso
be used to connect the  unit to the
woll  socket. The  line cord  is con-
nected to the unit by inserting it into
cr speciol socket which is occessibleofter removingo sliding plote under the
unit itself.With A-C operotionthe operotion switchmust be in position

When you insert the line plug into the woll socket the unit will be switched
on. The red signol light indicqtesreqdinessfor operotion. With A-C operq-
tion the equipmentisswitchedoff by withdrowingthe linecord f rom the woll socket.

                                3. Chorgingthe occumulotor

                                   Just the some procedure os  is  re-
                                  quired for A-C operotion. No further
                                  operotion is necessory. The  nickel-

                                 tenonce.
                               There will occur no dq moge  if you
                              keep your occumulotorunchorgedeven
                                   during extended periods. However, it
                                should be olwoys rechorged in order
                                        to mointoinitsfull outputof floshes.The
                                    stote of chorge of  the occumulqtor
con be checked by the time of flosh sequence.After the CIccumulotoris
rechorgedcompletelythe time of floshsequenceis 12....l5sec.After 20 floshes
it will increoseto 20 sec. lf the time of flqsh sequenceis more thon 2A sec.,
it will be odvisobleto rechorgethe equipment.Rechorgingof q completely
dischorged occumulotorwill be completed ofter obout 14 hours. Over-
chorging the qccumulqtoroccosionollywill not domoge the cells.

4. Re-formigthe storogecondensers
After o period of o few weeks without use, we recommendrunning the unit
trom t/a lo 1/2hour plugged into A-C. The operotion switch should meonwhile
be set t"  9.       This procedure,without flosh operotion, will re-form the          e,
storoge condensers,so thot you will get the moximum number of floshesper
occumuloforchorge


5. Guidenumbercnd settingof diophrogm
The guide number is delermined by the light output of the ULTRABLITZvniI.
The required operture con be colculotedwith the oid of this guide number
with the following formulot

    The stop toble numbers os given in the toble con serve only os o generol
     guide, e. g. for medium-sized,brighf rooms.
    The operture should be increosed by one or two stops for out-door floshing,
      in lorge holls or of greot distonce from reflecting oreos. lf the distonce is
     shorter thon 8 ft. o greoter diophrogm should be token, e. g. ot o distonce
      of 3 ft. toke the next lorger stop.





    6. Iilm ond developing
    ULTRABLITZlight is equivolent to doylight of 5600oK. Therefore olwoys use
     doylight film for color exposures.For block-ond-whiteexposures,it is best
      to  use ponchromotic film with o  normol developing. Very sotisfoctory
     negotivesmeeting the highest requirementsos to o fovoroble grodotion will
     be obtoined by the use of modern ropid developers.The indicoted vqlues

             In cloudy weother ULTRABLITZCOMET will contribufeoften extro illuminotion
          ond  it is possibleto get the some effect os in sunlighf.Shorply controsting
            illuminotionwhen shooting ogoinst the light con olso be softened in this woy,
          ond this is very importont especiolly for coJor photogrophy, os too shorp
            controsts will be softened too.
          The following is o procticol exomple:
            At o ronge of l2  f eet supposethe right stop is 8 toking 96 os guide number.
           For the generol lighting you find on exposure time of 1125sec. for  f 8 with
          on exposure meter. Set your comero to this exposure time. Then  if you
            set the diophrogm to 1'1,the supplementoryflosh will hove obout the sqme
           photogrophic effect qs the doylight. The shorter the exposure time is set, the
          more the effect of outside illuminqtionwill diminish.                                       t 3

    9. Serviceand Guarqnlee





         lf these instructions ore properly followed, the ULTRABLITZCOMET will
     perform well for mony yeors to come. ln the event, however, thot your
    ULTRABLITZshould ot ony time foil to function properly, the comero store
    where the ULTRABLITZCOMET wos purchqsedshould be consulted,or Allied
    lmpex Corp., 17 West lTth Street,New York ll,  N.Y., sole foctory-outhorized
     importer (see import certificote).
    The ULTRABLITZCOMET is guoronteed by us, through our representotivefor
      six months in occordonce with the conditions set forth  in the guorontee
      certificote enclosed with the COMET. Whenever the COMET is returned for
      repcirs, it must be qccomponied by the guorontee certificote, os otherwise
     our representotivewill hqve to chorge for the repoir. The terms of the
14  guorontee should be cqrefully studied
