4. Moins operolion

The CORNET L moy only be used from olter-
noting current. Before connecting up to the
moin,s it must be switched to the correct
voltoge. The switch for this is the slofted
socket pin for the mqins connector on the
si,de of the equipment. By meons of either
o screwdriver or o coin the slot must be set
to the correct voltoge (22Q or with 1.|0....l25 V
to 1'17). For the connection to the moins
ony normql connector with o flqt iron socket
will do.

Switching on is occomplishe,d by slid, ing the operotion switch so thqt the
mork "-" is visible. In this position the built-in occum, ulotor will chorge ot
the some time. The equipment is swilched off by sliding ihe operotion.switch
to the middle position "OFF".

5. Chorging the ocrumulotor
After connecting the CORNET L to the
moins, set the operotion switch lo " nt".
Then the occumulotor will begin to
chorge. No further operotion is neces-
sory. During chorging the signol lomp
will light up ot the flosh heod. The
                                            built-in nickel-codmium occumulotor is
gos-proof ond does not need ony
m'ointenonce. A sure sign for the
chorge stote of the occumulotor is the
time between floshes thot is the time
                        on bottery operotion, which posses
b.etween floshing ond lighting up of the

                                          30 sec. completely dischorged
When the time between floshes reqches 30 sec. then the qccumulotor must be
re-chorged. Chorging time will then be opprox. l4 hrs. At 18 sec. between
floshes o chorging time of 7 hrs. will suffice. No domoge will occur to the
occumulotor if it will be unchorqed even durinq extended periods or if it will
be.overchorged occosionolly. Its time of seriice is very'long, it moy be
rechorged opprox. 400...500 times.

Should the equipment be left switched on ot bottery operotion for severol
hours, by mistoke, the occumulotor will be fully dischorged ond the vibrqtor
will not work. The nickel-codmium occumulotor will not be destroyed [y
such oction but it will require up to 60 hours to fully chorge ogoin. After
further 2 or 3 dischorges of normol flosh working ond normol chorging of
l4 hours eoch time, ihe occumulotorwill ogoin reoch rts normol power output.
The CoRNET L con olso be chorged from o cor-bqttery 6 or j2V with the1 cor-chorging coble ovoiloble os o speciol ottochment.

              6. Reoctivoting lhe flosh copocitor
lf the equipment is not used for severol weeks, it should be connected to
the mqins for 20 to 30 minutes before floshing it (switch to moins operotion).
The equipment will then reoch its full floshing power.

7. Aperlure Computer ond
      Guide Number

     Unlike doylight ond constont orti-
ficiol light sources by which the re-
gulotion of the film exposure is pos-
     sible by operture ond exposure
time, with the very short electronic
flqsh this regulotion con only be
    done by the operture.
For the simple computotion of the necessory operture there is the operture
computer on the flosh lomp. For block ond white films, set the block qrrow
to the sensitivity volue of the film being used (e. g.17o DIN), for colour films
use the red orrow. The corresponding operture (e.g.5,6) con be reod off from
'10 the rotqting disc opposite the requir,ed distonce (e.g. 16 ft).

Guide Number
Should the ronge of the computer be unsufficient, i. e. the film sensitivity folls
below the volues given, then from the guide number (see poge 13) the cor,
responding operture con be computed with the following formulo:
Guide number : Aperture, e. g. for 320 ASA film _:5,6280
 Distqnce 50
                                                                                                                                      a
whereby distonce : distonce from the lomp to ihe subiect in feet. $c,lFus'u>
The guide number is dependent upon the light output of the CORNET L
ond the film sensitivity. lt is qlso influenced by the light of the subiect to be
photogrophed, size ond lightness of the room ond the kind of development.
It con only be token, therefore os o guide.
Theguide numbers ore given for medium sized rooms with light wolls. When
toking pictures in the open, in lorge holls orwhere the distonce from reflecting
surfoces is lorge, open the operture 1...2 stops further thon computed or
obtoine'd from the computer.
For distonces smoller thon 8 feet choose olso o lorger operture, e. g. of 3 feet'l stop lorger.
