Fosten C0RNET P to romero
To do this, the odopter foot supplied with the floshlight
is compressed ond inserted in one of the two slots pro-
vided for this purpose. Slide the foot ond floshlight into
the comero shoe.

Alternotively, fosten the floshlight to the universol
brocket ond screw this to the comero.
When corrying the comero together with the CORNET P
on the shoulder, it is recommended to slip the corrying
strop provided through the lug of the CORNET p in
order to prevent loss or occident.View original page 5Page 6 · Read text
Synchronizing cord Withdrow the slide ond unwind o sufficient length of synchronizing cord. Reploce slide ond connect synchronizing cord to comero, ensuring thot the comero synchronizing lever is set to "X". Set shutter speed to obout r/16e sec; if focol plone shutter is used, consult monufocturers' i nstructions. For corrying purposes, insert the corrying strop supplied inio ihe lug of the CORNET P.View original page 6

www.butkus.us Accumulator chorging - mcins operotion The CORNET P is designed for connection to A.C. moins only. To rechorge the qccumulotor, connect the chorging plug to the floshlight, setting the plug to the correct voltoge with the oid of o coin, if necessory. Chorging is slqrled simply by inserting the chorging plug in o moins socket. The red signol lomp lights up to indicote thot chorging is proceeding. At the some time, the floshlight con be used os often os desired without dischorging the occumulotor. Chorging is stopped by pulling out the chorging plug from the moins socket. 5View original page 8

The nickel-codmium occumulotor built into the CORNET P needs no morn-
tenonce of ony kind, but must, of course, be re-chorged when run down.
The condiiion of lhe occumulotor is indicoted by the recovery time, thot is
to soy, the time which elopses between the emitting of o flosh ond the lighting
up of the signol lomp ogoin, when using the floshlight on boltery power.
This omounts io
l0 secs. when fuily chorged No. of floshes left' 70-80
17 secs. when /a dischorged No. of floshes left: obout 20
30 secs. when fully dischorged No. of floshes left' 0
The recovery iime should not be ollowed to exceed 30 seconds without the
occumulotor being re-chorged. The chorging period then qmounts to obout
l4 hours. When only 35 to 40 floshes hove been emitted, o chorging period
of obout 7 hours is odequote. lt is not detrimentol to the occumulotor to leove
it unchorged for lengthy periods or to overchorge it occosionolly. lts service
life is remorkobly long, omounting to some 400 to 500 chorges.
Should the floshlight be inodvertently left on boitery operotion for o long time
ond the occumulotor consequently exhousted, it will usuolly cquse no domoge,
but it might be necessqry to give it o chorge of up to 60 hours. After being
dischorged 2 or 3 times in normol operotion ond being re-chorged ogoin for
l4 hours eoch time, it will ogoin perform ot full copocity.View original page 9Page 10 · Read text

Re-oclivqtion of the storoge copoci?o
When the floshlight hos not been used for severol weeks, it is odviseoble to
plug it into the moins for obout 20 to 30 minutes before use. This re-octivotes
ihe electrolytic copocitor ond enobles the unit to deliver its full power once
more. During the re-octivotion period, the unit should be floshed of intervqls.
AutomotiG confrol system
Th,e tronsistor reloy circuit of the CORNET p ,ou", bottery current ond ensures
constont light output. lt is therefore no longer necessory, when toking o series
of shots, to turn off the floshlight ofter eoch exposure in order to conserve the
energy of the occumulotor. The outomotic control system outomoticolly iurns
1 off the bottery current os soon os the full flosh power hos been ottoined,
which, in turn, results in o rise in the numb,er of floshes which con octuolly be
used.
Thonks to its outomotic control sysfem, fhe CORNET P con be kept in constont
reodiness when imporiont events ore toking ploce, ond ihere is never ony need
to miss thot once-in-o-lifetime shot.View original page 10Page 11 · Read text
Aperture compuler

By doylight or constont ortificiol light, correct exposure is reguloted by meons
of the shutter speed ond operture, but the extreme shortness of on electronic
flosh permits exposure to be reguloted only by the operture. The operture
computer offers on eosy wcry of oscertoining the correct operture. For block-
ond-white film, set the block orrow to the oppropriote sensitivity figure (e. g.
ASA 40). For colour film, the red orrow is used. The proper operture (e. g. 5.6)
con ihen be reod off opposite the subiect distonce (e. g. 16 ft.).View original page 11Page 12 · Read text
www.butkus.us
Guide number
lf the sensitivity of the film used connot be encompossed by the operture
computer, the correci operture con be colculofed from the guide number, using
ihe following formulo:
Guide number : operture, e.g. for ASA 320 film 280 : 5.6
Subiect distonce -50
I.a
The guide number is governed by the light output of the coRNET p ond the
sensitivity of the film used, but it is olso influenced by the brightness of the
subiect, the size ond brightness of the surroundings ond the method of deve-
loping, it con therefore be regorded only os on opproximotion.
The guide numbers given qre understood to opply to medium sized rooms
with light-coloured wolls, ond con be used for distonces down to obout 3 ft.
It is odviseoble to oscertoin the correct operture for shorter distonces by
experiment.
When toking pictures in the open, in lorge holls or ot long distonces from
reflecting surfoces, the operture should be one or two stops lorger thon the
figure obtoined by colculoiion or by meons of the operture computer.View original page 12Page 13 · Read text
The guide number is different for blocl<-ond-white ond colour films of the some
sensitivity. Using the odiocent groph, the correct guide numbers for every
type of film con be oscertoined os follows:
Find the sensitivity of the film in the lefihond co,lumn, follow it horizontolly to
the right until it intersects one of the slonting lines (colour film, block-ond-white
film), ond reod off the correct guide number on the bose line directly below
the point of iniersection. Exomple: ASA 40, blocl<-ond-white film, guide nunr-
ber:,l00.
{
Negotive moteriol ond developmenl
The light of the CORNET corresponds to doylight of 5600" K intensity; use
therefore only doylight film for colour exposures
When moking block-ond-white exposures with film which is to be processed
with speciol developers (fine-groin or compensoting developers), pleose note
thof o lower guide number should be selected, os the full sensitivity of the film
is not olwoys exploited in such coses. lt is odvisoble to oscertoin the guide
lO number by experiment when using speciol developers of this kind.View original page 13Page 15 · Read text

CORNET P
Front lighting often results in flot pictures. Better pictures, showing the effect
of depth, con be obtoined by plocing the flosh lomp some distonce io the side
or obove the comero, but still oimed ot the subiect. The slight loss in effective
light con be compensoted by opening the operture of the lens o little. Suitoble
extensions for the synchronising leod con be obtoined from ony photogrophic
deoler.
The ULTRABLITZ considerobly extends your field of photogrophy by enobling
you to brighten deep shodows, especiolly necessory for colour film. Under dull
conditions o flosh provides "sunlight" while when photogrophing ogoinst the
light (contre-iour) it smoothes out excessive controsts.
An exomple of colculoting te correct operture:
At o distonce of 12,5 feet the guide number 100 gives on operture of f 8.
For the ovoiloble generol light, the exposure meier indicotes on exposure of
1/25 sec qt f 8.
Set the shutter to1 l25sec ond the operture to f ll insteod of f 8.
In this woy the flqsh will hove obout the some effect os the ovoiloble light. By
12 reducing the exposure time, the effect of the ovoilqble light is reduced.View original page 15Page 16 · Read text
