TO USE THE SCALE FOR OUT.DOOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
      Follow  on top scale the horizontal  line corresponrling  to  the   " monthr"  to  the  verthat
  line jndicating the "houf  "1 below this vertical line set the  " subject"  on B;  under  " stqp"
  on C read  " exposure " on D;  PnovrlrNc,  the  sun  is intense  aird. fastest plates are  usid.
   If these conditions 1ary., set the intensity  of light  on  E,, under time already found on D, and
  under  " speed of plate " on F read  " exposure  " on G.
                      TO USE THE SCALE FOR INTERIORS.  '                'n     Undef   number  of windows  " on H  sct the  " conclition  of  light  out-dogrs  "  on  K;  be-
  lorv the  " stop " on C, set the  " color  of walis " on  L  (pay'ing no  attention whatever  to  D),
 and under  " speed of plate "  ofi-F  read  " exposrlre " on G;PRovrDrNG,  that  it  is three hours
 ', after sunrise or three hours beiore  sunset, tirat  the  interior  gets  its  light  direct  from  the
  sky, and that ordinary  conditions are present.    If  any  of  the  following  conditions  exist, the' exposure must be longer  or shorter, as ttrre case mat' reclnire, viz.:  eailier  or  later than time'
 mentioned  above; room  lighted  from  light rvcltrs; ioot-r.r-r'eceiving large amount  of reflected
  light  frorn  opposite  buildings,  very  large  or  very, srlall  wiridows  oi  room  of  extra  large
  size, very high ceiiings or very long.
