The batleries prouide power  lor  focusing, exposure
and  flash operation  ta insure that your  pictures are
 conectly focused and exposed. The camera  will not
ope.rate unless there are batteries in  it.

 1   Open  the  Battery  Compartment  Cover  by
 ^    pushing the battery compartment  lock  in the
direction of the arrow  " y " and  lifting  it up.

Use two  1.5 V AA-size penlight batteries (alkaline-
manganese or manganese) . Make sure that the new
batteries you  are using are of the same type and
brand.

< Checking the Batteries >
Slide the flash in the direction of the arrow.  If the
Flash Ready Lamp turns on  in a few seconds, the
batteries are in good condition.  If it does not tum on
after 30 seconds, replace both  batteries with new
ones.
With weak or inconectly loaded batteries,
the camera will not operate.

Open the Lens Cover by sliding it as far as it will go.
Now, the camera is ready to oPerate.
o  Unless the Lens Cover is fully open,
the Shutter Release Button  will remain
locked and the camera will not operate.

Set the Film Speed Selector at the ISO/ASA number
of the film you are using.
The film speed (ISO/ASA)  is marked on the film
box.

 Use 35 mm film with a film speed of ISO (ASA)
 100,200,400, or 100O.

Always load and unload film in subdued light.

1     Lift up the Film Rewind Knob and open the

I     Insert the film cassette as shown, then push-    down the Film Rewind Knob.

Make sure that the Sprocket teeth engage with the

shourn in the drawing (A) and the film  lies flat.

If you are shooting indoots, at night or in other low-
 light conditions,  the Flash Signol  will tum on when

 depressing the Shutter Release Button.  Otherwise
 the flash will not fire at all or will fire only with insuffi-
 cient light, causing the picture to come out dark.
 o  Take care not to cover the flash reflector with

When taking flash pictures with the camera held in
uertical position, be sure to hold it with the Flash lJnit
on the upper side.
