   rectdateand time usingthe procedureon

1) Openthe batterycoverusinga coinor simi-
   lar object.
2) Insertthe batteriesaccordingto the polarity
   indicationsin the batterycompartment.
3) Replacethe batterycover.

4) Pressthe ON/OFFbuttonandverifythatthe

  LCD panel."  |  " indicatesthat the battery
   levelis okay.

  new batterieshandy.When "  I  " disap-
  pearsfrom the displaycompletely,replace
  both batterieswith new ones.

Shooting Capacity:Approx.40 rolls of 24-
exp.film with 50% flash use.(Databasedon
Canon'sStandardTest Method.)
o Alwayscheckthe batterylevelbeforetaking
   oictures.
  When you intend to take many pictures,
  suchas on a tripor at a wedding,be sureto
  take alongsparebatteries.

2, Loading the Film
Use only DX-codedfilm wheneverpossible.
The cameraautomaticallysetsthe film speed.
o Any DX-codedfilm with a=filmspeedin the
  rangeof ISO25 - 3200 can be used.
r  For slide film, use DX-codedfilm with a
  speedof ISO25, 50, 100,200,400,800,
  1600 or 3200.
1) Slidethe backcoverlatchdownto openthe
  back cover.
2) Inserttheflatend of the filmcartridgein first.
3) Carefullypull the film tip across until it
  reachesthe filmtip positionmark.
4) Makesurethefilmliesflatand is positioned
  properlybetweenthefilmguides,thenclose
  the backcover.
  The film automaticallvadvancesto the first
  frame.

2) Usingthe AF frameas a guide,aim at the
   subjectand pressthe shutterbuttonhalf-
  way to focus the subject.The green lamp
   lightsup whenthe subjectis in focus.

Red-eyeReduction Mode
The subject'seyes may appear red in flash
photosdue to a phenomenoncalled"redeye,"
causedby lightreflectingfrom the retina.
To minimizered eye,pressthe shootingmode
buttonsothat"O "aooearsintheLCDoanel.
In thismode,the red-eyereductionlamplights
to illuminatethesubjectbeforetheflashfiresto
reducethe sizeof the subject'spupilsand mi-
nimizethe chanceof red eye.
o Whenthe shutterbuttonis pressedhalfway,
  the red-eyereductionlamp illuminatesthe
  subject for approximately1 second and
  then unlocksthe shutterbuttonto let you
  take the picture.
.  Havethe subiectlookat the red-eyereduc-
   tion lamofor besteffect.
