Adiusting the meter
for the speed-rating
of the film of your choice
Turn the plastic disc of the
meter until the frlm index num-
ber of your film appears in the
ASA window and the white
arrow points to that nurnber.
The same applies when you use
film with German DIN rating,
which then appears in the DIN
window. Now your SIX-
TINO is ready for reading.View original page 2Page 5 · Read text

The red numbers in the upper window
of the SIXTINO are the light-values,
the green figures in the lower window
indicate full seconds, the black figures,
however, are fractions of seconds. The
corresponding numbers on the inner
semi-circle of the computer-disc indicate
the f/stops or diaphragm apertures.
These values are adjusted according to
international standards-
Should your camera be fitted with
f/stops such as 3.5,4.5, and 6.3, these are
indicated by small black dots between

Reflected-light measuringwww.butkus.us
This method accepts the light which is reflected
from the scene or subject to be taken. Retract the
incident-light diffusor-blind and take care that the
whole honeycomb cell is uncovered. Point your
SIXTINO from the camera position towards the
subject-or make a so-called "close-up" measure-
ment by approaching the subject to approx. 20"
and take readings of the most important details.
Should these rcadings vary, arrive at a convenient
average result. Be careful not to cast your own
shadow on the subject to be photographed for such
close-up readings.
This method should be used always when taking
landscapes or scenes which show no distinctive
differences in illumination.

Incident-light measudng This method refers to readings taken from the light which illuminates the scene or subject. Contrary to the previously describCd "reflect- ed method" p,tll the incident diffusor-blind in front of the honeycomb cell until it is com- pletely covered. Point your SIXTINO from the subject to be photographed towards the actual camera position. Then read the various time and f/stop combinations and set your camera accordingly. It is always useful to apply the "incident rnethod" when taking dark subjects against a light background, and vice versa. www.butkus.usView original page 7

Zeto-setting 'When the cell of your SIXTINO is completely covered, the white indi- cator needle must stand at the white adjusting point on the left-hand of the scale. If this is not the case, your nreter can be adjusted by turning the zero-setting screw slightly. How- ever, make sure that during this ad- justment no light falls onto the cell. This adjustment is rarely necessary as your SIXTINO is virtually shock- proof,View original page 9
