The " Model D " Shutter is most simple in construction and operation. It is
exceedingly compact and has all the essential features of an up-to-date shutter.
It is light, durable and of simplest possible mechanism. Made only in two sizes,
4 x S and 5 x 7, and only in combination with an iris diaphragm, the price includ-
ing both the diaphragm aud the shutter. !
It is arranged so that it can be releasedby pneumatic pressure with the bulb,
or by hand in pressing the lever. The disk at the top of the shutter controls the
length of exposure from r*o of a second to z seconds. The indicator with the
index over the letters I. B. T. controls the action as to time or instantaneousexposure.
In operating the shutter there is no jar, even at
the highest speed, and the plate is fully exposed for
the time desired, in sharp contrast to these shutters
which take up much of the specified time for the
movement of their blades.
The graduation on the diaphragm plate is in
accordancewith the system of the British Society;
the number indicates the f value of the opening.
Where the plates are graduated with a second series
of numbers, as r,2, 3, etc., they do not refer to the
focus of the lens, but are only to be used to indicate
a change in the size of the opening, when using the
W. A. Irenses. The diaphragm plates are marked
with the f value of the various combinations of the
lens svstem.
