Wrth this automatic setting, the LEIGA R 3 can be en-
trusted without qualms to any member of the family. For
all subjectsthat do not includehigh lightingcontrasts,
almost invariablyin incident light and when no heaw

evenly distributed, and no strong colour contrastsare
present. As well as underan overcastsky, in diffuselight,

 Plus-minuscorrection
Ordinarysubjectssuch as those shown in the top row have a uni-
form distributionof dark and bright object details. They therefore
correspondto a meangreyvalueof 180/oreflection.But if the subjects
have predominatelybright or dark areas as in the bottom row, and,
exceptionally,selected-areameasurementis not possible,the
measuringvaluescan be correctedon the rotaryring of the DIN/ASA
settingdisc.
Thissimple* and - adjustmentfor specialcasesin conjunctionwith
integratingmeasurementcorrects underexposurescaused by too
muchbrightness, for instanceon the beachand in snow, and overex-
posurescausedby dark portionsor at night.
The picturesof the cablecar and of the wallof the shipwereexposed
"+ 1" longerand "- 1" shorterthan recommendedby the exposure
meter.(Strongcontrejour light may requireadjustmentof * 2,very
darksubjectsof - 2).
