To open the Mokino
Hold the comero by ifs long side with fhe left hond ond drow
ihe front forwqrd with thumb ond middle finger of the right
hqnd until the slruts snop in oudibly. Mqke sure thot bofh the
struts reolly click in so lhot lhe front is porollel fo lhe bqck.
The Mokino hos snop-in posifions,one for lhe shorler ond the
olher for the longer exlension. The short extension must be
used when the Ropid Wide-ongle-Orlhor is employed, while
the longer extension fits the Anticomor ond lhe Tele Mokinor.
Moke sure you hove lhe correct exlension for lhe lens you use.
The rongefinder is designed for the longer exfension ond does
nol work wifh the wide-ongle lens ond the Tele-Mokinor.
To close fhe comero
lf comero hos been sef for neor objects, lurn indicotor bock to
infinity. Wifh the thumb qnd middle finger of righi hond press
the ribbed metol grips (9) on eqch side ond push front bqck;
firsf close Newton finder on the fronl ond olso lhe profecling
cover with fhe lens on the bock.
How lo hold fhe Mokino
Spon holding grlp (8) on comero front with righl horid (thumb
behind, index finger on the releose knob, the olher fingers in
front) while ihe left hond holds comero with ihumb ond index

The coupled ronge-finder ft.//os'z )-
The ronge-finder of the Ploubel Mqkino is bosed upon the
"coincidenceprinciple", i. e. it conioins 2 mirrors, one rigid
ond one od jusloble,lhe lqtter of which is moved by f he focusing
device of the comero. When looking fhrough the eye-pieceofft"
fhe ronge-finderyou will see o reclongulor imoge of yellowish
colour qnd o smoll, round picfure of white colour. By turning
lhe focusing screw (on left side of the comerofront) the lozy
long struls of the cqmerq odjust simulfoneouslythe front prote
ond fhe movoble mirror, so thof the circulor white picture
moves over fhe yellowish one; when both pictures coincide
the piclure is correctly focused ond obsolutely shorp.
For using lhe ronge-fin'der,firsl pull out ihe Mokino until both
slruls snop in posirion. Now pull out the nickled lelescopic
eye-piece of the ronge-finder ond look through it. When the
cqmero is sef for,.infinify", you will see fhoi both picfures of

lhe ronge-finder coincide for distont objects, whereos neor
objects will show 2 different picfures, side by side. By lurning
lhe focusing screw until both picfures coincide, you will get
lhe correcf distqnce ond definition. Pleose olwoys keep in
mind fhot the "sine quo non" of oll ronge-findersis fo look'
stroight through lhe eye-piece,nof obliquely (sidewoys).
For objects in motion the ronge-finder moy olso be used os o
direct finder (though f he odgle of view is only obout '1/3 of the
whole ongle of the picture shown on lhe plote or film), os in
most coses instonloneousphotos require only the moin object
focused. Firsf set the Compur shutler lo f he exposure.
The ronge-finder of fhe Mokino is coupled only fo the Anti-
comqrs 1:2.9flO cm. ond 1:4.2110cm., but nof to the Tele-
Mokinor 1 :4.8 ond the Wid'e-ongle-Orthor 1:6.8.lf is possible,
however, lo use the ronge-finder for these lenses olso by
meosuringlhe disfonceond seffing lhe disloncefound by using
lhe melre- or footscolelhof is ploced ot the front of the Mokino
below fhe opiicol viewfinder. See porficulors given wifh fhe
vorious lensesond supplementorylenses.
lmporlonl! We wish to emphosizethot oll coupled ronge-

sensitiveto rough hondling. The comerq should be corefully

The-Compur-Shullers of lhe Mokino
The Mokino cqmeros ll, llS ond lll ore equipped wifh the

Compur I shutter. The Mokino lf lR hos the new Ropid Com- pur I shutter. The setting of the exposure lime required is done by rototing the wide, brig hf rofory ring (6) su rround ing the lens.To sim pl ify fhe selting il hos o setting mork on lop os well os below. The volues given ore froctions of o second (e.g.Z5:1125 second) ond fhe exposure fime indicoted is obtoined when lhe locoling mqrk with the figure coincideswith the whife or blqck dol on the front-ponel. When set to 1/200 or 11400q morked resisfonce will be felf ond o liitle more force hqs ro be used ro turn lhe ring. This is quite in order os on odditionolspring istensioned for fhese speeds. Prior fo exposure Compur shutters hove lo be cocked by pressing down the lever (12) on the right side of the comero fronl unlil il snops in. After cocking this lever (12) runs home outomolicolly info its originol position. For long lime exposures os well os for fhe exominolion of lhe imoge on fhe ground gloss screen, the shufter must be sel lo "T". When fhe releose lever (4) or the coble releose is pressed home the shulfer opens ond sloys open unlil o second squeeze of lever (4) closesit. The setting ,,B" for shorl time exposures is different in thot fhe shutter opens when the rereqselever (4) is pressedond closesf he moment lhe pressureceoses.When set lo "T" or "B" the shutfer musl not be cocked or it will be domoged! Stop-Adjuslmenf. - An imporlont feoture: The Compur
shuller set lo 1 -11400second con be'opened withoul rotofing

Cock the shutler in the normol woy, buf hold lhe cocking lever
(12) dowi thus preventing it from sliding home, press bullon A
ond releoselever 12. This lever now remqins hqlf cocked. Press
releose lever 4 ond the shufier will open ond will sioy so.
To closethe shufter,presslever 12 down ogoin until it snopsin.
The butfon A will then spring bock ond lever 12 slides bock.
Prior lo the qcluol exposure the shutter hos, of course, lo be

The shutler releose lever (4) is ploced in the righthond top
corner of ihe front ponel. The shutter is releosed by o slow,

Above the plush lining of the holder is o smoll lever which

The plofe-holder should be pulled out of lhe comerq by press-
ing the holder upword with the thumb of the left hond while
pulling it ouf with fhe righi hond.

Filmpocks must be hondled wifh the ulmosf core, only the
norrow sides should be louched. Pressureon the bock or the

The tripod plote should be used when exposures hove to be
mode from o.tripod. The comero should be fixed to the ploie

In f heMokino with ropid-chonge-mounl the lominoe of the
Compur shulfer ore behind fhe lens.
The lens is o complele unif in o precisionropid-chonge-mount.
The insertion or removol of fhe lens is done by o shorf roiotion
fo the left or the righi by gripping lhe lens mount ot the wide
milled edge iusl obove the fronl plofe. Do nof use force when
screwing in the lens! The ropid-chonge-rnouniensureslhe lens
hoving olwoys its correct position mechonicolly os well os
opticoll.y.ll does not mofler wether the sfop-numbersengroved
on lhe bqrrel ore in o differenl ploce from fhot before the lost
removol. Eoch lens hos ils own iris-diophrogm which con be
set to the stop-number by rotoling the ring (7) until fhe notch

thqt of the Anticomor. On lhe fronl-ponel of the'Mokino you
will find q red triongle, ond onother red mork is on the dio-
phrogmring of theTele-Mokinor.In orderlo enoblethe photo-
gropher to reod the stop-numbers from obove it is recom-
mended thot the lwo red morkings on ring ond fronf-ponel
should coincide when fhe Tele-Mokinor is inserled.However,
should ii be screwed in differently,no horm will be done. The

Owing lo its short focol length o speciol cofch spring for the
loiy tongs of the comero is necessqry(20). The Ropid Wide-
ongle-Orthor hos its own iris-diophrogm ond musf be inler-
chonged like the other ropid chonge-lens.
The correcl imoge oreo is found either by focusing on ihe
groundglossscreen or by using o smoll slip-on cop with lens
for fhe oplicol viewfinder. This cop is slipped on lhe viewfinder
in such o woy f hot the lens of the cop poinls toword the subject
to be photogrophed. The Ropid Wide-ongle-Orthor is nof
coupled lo the ronge-finder, but the lotter con be used by
meosuring lhe correct distonce befween subject ond comero.
Then lhe lozy longs ore mqde to engoge the cotch spring
provided for fhe wide-ongle lens ond lhe dislonce meosured

mend the exclusive use of our Ploubel filters for which floiness

the filters on lhe lens mount is the sofesl woy of ensuring o
correct opticol fitling with the leost Ioss of definifion.

the Anlicomor. With the "stronger" fillers lime exposures

The focol-ploneshutter unit is slid into the roils on f he cqmero
bock in ploce of lhe usuol dork slide. On its own bock qre
provided o secondset of roils, into which ihe dork slide,film-
pock odopler, rollfilm odopler or ground-glossscreencon be
fitted in the usuol woy.
Owing to the thicknessof the shuller lhe extension of the bel-
lows hos to be oltered to reslore the correct distonce between
the lens ond the film plone. A speciolcotch spring con be suppl-
ied by fhe foctory fo serve this purpose. However, lhe focql
plone shutterond the Wide-ongle-Orlhor connot be employed ,A
togefher on occount of lhe lwo cofch springs thot con, of course,
noi be used simulloneously.
Focusingis done by the speciol scole provided when fhe focol-
plone shutteris in use.This is usuollyplocedover the fop of the

focusing scqle for fhe Anticomor lens. In lhose comeros lhol
hove not been designed for use wilh ihe Wide-ongle-Orthor
lens, it will be found ot fhe moving end of fhe lozy-fongs
focusing scole. The distonce meter should not be used wifh ihe
focol-plone shuller unif, though it moy be used to reod the
distonce of o subjecf on the normol Anticomor focusing scole,
ond the mounl lhen ollered lo reod this sqme disfonceon the
speciol scole provided. The lozy-tongs musl then be moved
into the neorer posifion before exposure.
The ollerotion of fhe shutler speed is eosily orronged by the
ploin knob. The lolter is pulled out genfly from the comero ond
turned to indicqte the desired speed. The knob is lhen releosed,
core being foken thqt the peg on its under side engoges cor-
reclly in the oppropriqfe hole below it. The shuller is releosed
by o brief pressure on lhe profruding butfon.
When usinglhe focol-ploneshuller unif, il is nofurolly essentiol

The flosh mechonism consislsof three different ports:
1) Rotory knob 16 ond floshconfocts25 on the front plote of
fhe comero
2) Slide 19 to foke the floshgunond
3) the floshgun (poge 21).

B Socket for flosh bulb

How lo ofloch the floshgun lo lhe comero.
Push the floshgun directly over the slide 19, hinge down
clomping lever E1 ond fosfen il thoroughly. Connecl plug G
(poge 21) with sockels 25. The elecfricol releose of the
synchronisedshutler is done by pressing button F.
Thefloshguncqn be usedseporotelyfrom lhe comero if required
in which cose only the flosh-cord is connecfedlo lhe comero.

1) Prior to firing the flosh the shulter musf be cocked.
2) Keep oll elecfricol contocts scrupulously cleon ond dry.
3) Use fresh U2 botteriesonly, speciolflosh boiieriei with ot
leost q currenl of 3 omps ore besf.
4) Tesf botteries with 1/400 second os lhis exposure time
requires fhe highest omount of currenl. lf one single pres-
. sure on button F sufficeslo releose the shulter the bolleries
ore in working order.
5) The floshgun should be clomped firmly lo the comero
olherwise fhe electric connectionsmoy nol be secure. The
clomping screw should be firmly tightened.
6) Keep the cops of the floshbulbs dry olherwise they will
corrode ihe contocts in the sockefs. To ensure q cleon
metollic surfoce insert bulb in socket ond rolste it q few
limes lo ond fro.
7) The sockei B fits bulbs with ES-cops.When bulbs with
A.S.C.C.-cops musl be used on odopter (Order No. BE
1/13)should be employed.
8) To protecl the lozy-tong mechonism from domoge the
Mokinq musf be held firmly by the front plofe when the
floshgun is mounled or dismounled!
9) When using floshbulbs moke sure to odhere to the instruc-
lions for use wilh regord to guide-numbers, deloy ond
generol operolion.
10) For floshbulbs with q high currenf consumplion or for the
firing of more thon 2 floshbulbs simultoneouslyemploy
4 botleries ond use exiensionfube (order No. BE 1120)for
botfery - conloiner.
