must be perfectly cleon when o flosh is fired. The high
energy of the flosh light will burn the moleriol or domoge

4.3 Switching the flosh unit on ond off
The flosh unit is switched on by its moin switch. In the right
"ON" posilion, the mecoblitz is on. To furn off,the flosh unit
reset the moin switch to its "OFF" position.

octuol sync speed used by thecomero depends on the

length of the lens.

t'p*d, this con be limited trc the flosh sync speed by pressing
the key for exposure conhol on lhe comero. An olternotive
woy to overcome the problem is to set the "A", "5" or "M"
mode on the comero.
5.3 Correct exposure indicotion
The "o.k." correct exposure confirmolion briefly lights up on
the mecoblitz when the shol wos correctly exposed in TTL
flosh mode.
lf "o.k." is not indicoted ofter on exposure, then this meons
thot the shol wos underexposed. The shot will then hove to
be repeoted with the next smoller f-number (e.g. 78 insteod
oI I/11) or the distonce to the subiect or the reflecting sur-
foce (e.g. when bouncing the flosh) must be shortened.

severol AF metering oreos we fierefore recommend to octi-
tunciones dedicodos y funcionomienm del flosh vote the comero! centrol AF metering zone.
Some comeros moy only oclivole the AF illuminotor inte-
groted in the comero. In such on event, the AF meosuring
beom emitter of the mecoblitz will not be octiVirted.

Funzioni dedicote e modi flosh The mecoblirz 36AF-3 is only suitoble for the TTL flosh mode.
Funciones dedicodos y funcionomienb del flosh The TTL flosh mode is o very simple woy to ochieve excellent
flosh shots. In this mode exposure reodings ore token by o
sensor built into the comero which meosures fie light reoch-
ing the film through the comero lens (TTL). The,electronic
control circuit within the comero tronsmils o stop signol to fie
mecoblitz os soon os the film hos been exposed by the cor-
rect omounl of light, thereby instontly interrupting the flosh.
The odvontoge of this flosh mode is fiot oll foctors in-
fluencing correct exposure of the film (filters, chonge of oper-
ture ond focol length with zoom lenses, exlensions for close-
ups, etc.) ore oulomoticolly token inlo occount. You need not
worry oboul sefting the flosh, the comero's electronic syslem
outomoticolly determines the correct omount of flosh light
required.

comero's operoting instructions).

ore outomoticolly bolonced without overexposing the subiect.
The comero estoblishes the exposure setting for the ombient
light by moirix metering.
This operoting mode is either sel on the comero or outomoti-
colly octivoted by the comero (see operoting instructions for
the given comero).
5.7.3 Monuol TIt flosh exposure correction
The TIL outo flosh mode of most comeros is motched Io o25%
degree of light reflection by the subiect (overoge omount of
light reflected by flosh-shot subiects). Consequently, o dork
bockground thot obsorbs o greot deol of light, or o bright
bockground thot reflects o greoi deol of light, con result in
under- or overexposure, respectively.
