The 50mm f/3.5 and 100mm f/4 MinoltarAuto Bellows Macro Lenses are short-mount lensesdesigned specifically for useon
Minolta bellows.
They produce highly-magnified images with remarkable sharpness and excellent color rendition.
The 100mm f 14 lens can focus from inf inity'down to life size, while the 50mm f/3.5 gives magnification rates from 0.8 to 3.2
times life size.
To realize the full potential of your new lens, read this manual thoroughly and use it together with the manual supplied with
your bellows.

NOTE
o This is a combined manual for the 50mm and 100mm Minolta Auto Bellows Macro Lenses. Unless noted, operation is the
   same for both lenses.
o Throughout the text you will find a series of numbers. Each of these refers to a picture on the fold-out pages at the front.

ATTACHING AND REMOVING LENS

To Attach
Align the red mounting index (A-3) on the lens barrel with the one on the bellows lens mount. Insert the bayonet into the
bellow's socket and turn the lens clockwise until it locks in place with a click (B).

To Remove
Press and hold the bellow's lens-release button (C-1). Then turn the lens counterclockwise (C-2) as far as it will go and lift it
out of the socket (C-3).

CAUTION
The 100mm lens should never be mounted directly on your camera. lts rear element will interfere with the camera's mirror.

LENS HOOD
The lens hood (A4) supplied with your lens is threaded at the front to accept standard 55mm diameter glass filters.
Additional filtration using gelatin filters is possible with the accessory Filter Holder (A-5).
The hood also helps reduce flare cause by side-lighting, and permits the use of a Minolta 55mm lens cap to protect the lens.
It also allows the attachment of the Minolta Slide Copier AB-III to 50mm Bellows Macro Lens.

DETERMINING EXPOSURE

With TTL-metering cameras
1. Afterfocusingwiththelenssetatmaximumaperture,stopthelensdowntothedesiredf-stop(D).
2. Turn on the camera's meter and set appropriate shutter speed. lf using an automatic exposure qamera, check that proper
shutter-speed being set by the camera is within its range. lf not, adjust aperture.
3. With the aperture set, release the shutter- lt is recommended that a cable release such as the Minolta Cable Release II or
Remote Cord S be used to avoid camera movement (E).

 NOTE
o When using Minolta bellows that are not equiped with autodiaphragm couplings, the lens aperture must be set manually and
left stopped down to the desired aperture for exposure.
o Minolta x-700 and XD-series cameras should only be used in thb "A" or "M" mode.
With non-TTl-metering cameras
When a separate light meter (such as Minolta Flash Meter III, Auto Meter II) is used to make the exposure reading of a subject,
consult the close-up table (II) to find the exposure factor and F-stop correction for the length of bellows extension set.

NOTE
 o The close-up table (II) indicates exposure factors A , image magnification rates B , lens-to subject working distances C ,
distance between the film plane and the subject D, and exposure corrections in f-stops E for selected amount of bellows
extension. The table (lI) shows for example, that for an exposure factor of 4, there should be an exposure increase of 2 stops.
ACCESSORY FILTER HOLDER

Both the 50 and 100mm Auto Bel lows Macro lenses have provision for attachment of an accessory gelati n-filter holder to
allow color balancing and other f ilter effects.
The holder can accept one or more gelatin filters up to 0.3mm thickness, and mounts between the lens hood and the front of
the lens to provide protection for the f ilters.

CARE AND STORAGE
o Never touch glass lens surfaces with your fingers.
o Should a lens surface become dirty, gently remove loose, dry matter from it with a blower brush. lf necessary, the glass surface
may thenbewiped gentlywith a circular motion from the center outward with a soft, dry cotton cloth or special photographic
    lens tissue.
