Autofocusoperationand electronicfocusing confirmation
depend upon the general lightingof the scene, subject contrast
and details,and other technicalpoints Under certainconditions,
the automaticfocusing system/electronicfocusing confirmation
may experiencedifficulty.In these circumstances,we recom-
mend you focus manuallyusing the clear matte field.
Focus incjicatorLED blinksor disappearswith the following
subjects:
                                                             1) Very dark subject
                                                 Focusmanually,or for autofocus,focuson another,brighter
                                                         subjectlocatedat the samedistance,or use accessoryNikon
                                                      AutofocusSpeedlightSB-24,SB-23,SB-22or SB-20.(No other
                                                             flashunitcan be used.)





                                                                      2) Low-contrast subject
                                                       Focus manually,or for autofocus,focus on another subject
                                                              locatedat the same distance-but with more contrast-until

matchthe apertureyou set. This is the recommendedmodewhen depthof field is
your primeconsideration.To createsofter,lessdistinctbackgrounds,as in portraitures,
use widerapertures.For overallsharp,clear pictures,such as scenicphotography,
use smalleraoertures.
