f Shutter speed setting can be easily done by operation of shutter dial

Never use your camera in an environment where flammable or burnable, gas,
liquids or chemicals, etc, exist, such as Propane, Gasoline, etc.S
Keep the camera in a safe place that children cannot reach. Playing with
camera strap on neck could cause strangulation.A
Do not fire the flash close to eyes. Otherwise bright light would damage the eye.
Keep at least 1m/3feet distance between face and the camera, when taking as picture with flash.
Do not cover the flash with your finger or hand, it can cause skin burn.
Do not disassemblethe camera, it can cause electric shock and burn.
Afier attaching lens, do not look directly to the sun, through the vievrrfinder;it can
cause damage to the eye or loss of eyesight.
Do not look at the sun with the lens of your camera, otherwise you can lose your

Keep the camera iway from moisture or water. lf you drop your camera/lens in
water, please contact the store where you have purchased the camera, or aA
service station immediately. lf you use the camera with this condition it could

GAMERACARE
Please read this section before using the camera.
It is best to check all functionsand shoot a test roll of film before using the
camera for irreplaceablephotographssuch as wedding or trip abroad.Also
try to familiarizeyourself with the functions of your camera before such
important occasions. No compensation or guarantee is provided for
unsatisfactorypicturesor loss of profit,etc.
Please catry aspare batterywhen you use the camera in a cold environment,
on a field trip, or when taking many picturesat one time.
Do not use this camerawith any externalflash unit other than Sigma Flash
EF-430ST,EF-430 Super, EF-500 ST and EF-500 Super,which have special
contactpins on the hot shoe. These flash are offeredas optionalaccessories.
Other brandsof externalflash units may damage the Camera'scircuitboards
or may not functionproperly.
ENVIRONMENT
IYour camera is a precisioninstrument.Do not drop it or subject it to physical
shock.
lThis camera is not waterproof,and cannot be used underwater.Wipe off any
water dropletswith a dry cloth very soon. lf the camera gets reallywet, promptly
consultto your nearestSigma ServiceCenter.
IDo not leavethe camerain a dusty,hot, or high humidityenvironmentfor a long
periodof time.
rlf the camera is moved from a cold place to warm room, water droplets may
appear on the camera. Please keep the camera in a bag until it is acclimatedto
the temperature.
lrhe camera will work within a temperature range between -10"c/14'F and
+40'c1104'F temperature. However, in temperature below 0"c, the power
performanceof the battery will be low. Please carry a spare battery in these
circumstancesand keep the batterieswarm.
lStatic electricityor magneticfield, might effect the operationof the camera. In
such a case, please remove the battery from the camera and re-insert it, to
reset the camera'smicroprocessors.

MAINTENANCE
lAfter detachingthe lens from camera,use only a blowerbrush to blow away the
dust (on the lens, eyepiece, mirror, or focusing screen. However, to avoid
scratches,do not use the brush. I
IThe shutter curtainsare extremelythin. Use only the blower to clean them. Be i:
carefulnot to blow air too forcefullyon the shuttercurtains.The shuttercurtains .
can be easilydeformedor damaged.Do not touch the shuttercurtainswith your
fingersor film tip.
lDo not use chemicalsor other cleaningagents such as thinner or benzene,for
cleaningthe camera and lens. Use clean and soft cloth and blowerto clean the
camera and lens. Use lens cleanersfor removingfingerprints.
lDo not lubricatethe camera,lens or lens contacts. $

I lf you want to store the camerafor a long time, removethe batteries.
lTo maintainthe flash in a good condition,fire the flash few times each month.
lTo avoid fungus growing,store the cameraand lens in a dry cool and ventilated

BASIC OPERATION
Both SA-7 and SA-9 cameras have many advanced features. This
section, describes the basic camera operation. You can find more
detailsin following sections.
Inserting the Battery (Page 15)
Insert the batteries into the chamber
accordingto the + and - polaritymarks, as
indicated.

Align the red mark on the Camera's lens
mount with the red dot on the lens. lnsert
the lens into the mount of camera, and
rotatethe lens clockwiseuntil it clicks into
the lockedposition.

GHECKINGTHE BATTERY

lf the battery mark symbol does not appear: The batterystrength is sufficientfor
cameraoperation.
When the batterymark symbol appears:Power is getting low and the batterywill
needto be changedsoon.
lf the battery mark symbol blinks: The power of the battery is very low and the
cameracannot operate,replacethe battery.
To conservethe battery,the camera will switch itself "off' after 6 seconds of not
being operated.However,it is possiblefor the shutterto be releasedaccidentally.
lf the "D"-dial-isset to the [l position,the shuttercannot be released.

Remove the Camera's body cap and the lens'
rear cap.

Align the red mark on the Camera'smountwith
red dot on the lens. Insert the lens into the
mount of the camera, and rotate the lens
clockwiseuntil it clicks into the locked position.

To ensure proper connection, please do not press the lens lock button while
mountingthe lens.

To remove the lens, press the lens lock button
and turn the lens counter-clockwise until it
stops. Gently removethe lens from the camera
body.
Gaution
On the mount surface of the lens, there are a number of electric contacts.
Please keep them clean to ensure proper connection. To avoid damaging
them, be sure to place the lens with its front end down when it is off the
Camera.
DIOPTERADJUSTMENT
Adjust the diopter so that you can see through the viewfinderclearly.
While lookingthroughthe viewfinder,slide the
DiopterAdjuster to the left or to the right, until
the imageappearssharpon the focus screen.

I lf you still cannot see the vieMinder clearly,we suggestthat you to purchasea
viewfinderdiopter adjustmenteyepieceand use it togetherwith the built-in

LOADINGAND REMOVINGFILM
Caution
Before you first load the first film, please remove the
protective sheet, which has been inserted into the film
chamber at the factory.
The shutter curtain is a very delicate, precision
component, which moves with high speed. Touching or
pushing it with your finger while loading the film can
easily damage it.
LOADING FILM

Turn the "D"-Dial to one of the Drive-Area
positions

Slide the Back Cover Latch down and open the
backa cover. lnsert the film cartridgeinto the film chamber.

While pressingdown the cartridgegently,pull p the edge of the film leaderout until it reaches
littlebeyondthe Film Tip Mark (+) . (lf the
film leadergoes beyondthe Film Tip Mark too
much, pleaserewindsome of the film back).
Close the back cover, pressing firmly so it is
securelylocked.
The film will advance automaticallyto the first
frame and the LCD film counterwill displaythe
number "7".Also the ISO film speed mark will
appearon the LCD panelfor 6 seconds.

Gaution
Do not open the back cover during shooting,otherwiselight enteringwill destroy
the exposed films. lf it happens accidentally,close the back cover immediately.
You can use the remainingfilms, but the film counter will not show the correct
number.When you close the back cover,if lhe "Er"'markblinkson the LCD panel
or camera does not work, please follow the above proceduresfor rewindingthe
film.
Opening the back cover during film rewind will destroy the exposed films. lf it
happens accidentally,close the back cover immediatelyand follow the above
proceduresfor rewindingthe film.
lf the rewind motor stops while rewindingthe film due to low batterypower,do not
open the back cover.Replacethe batteryfirst and then continueto rewind.
This camera reads the film's length (ie. the number of exposuresfrom the DX
code), however,if you use non-DXcoded film, you may take extra frames but they
may not be developedor printedby the laboratory.

The features and the operation methods of four different
exposure modes of the camera are explained below.
