Color by Beseler Color by Beseler...Professional quality color with the personal creative control only you can give it! Why develop your own color film and make your own color prints? The reasons are as numerous, and as good, as your own creative ideas. As important to you as your standards of image quality. For, when you process your own color, you controlevery step. You decide on cropping, dodging, burning-in, density and color balance. But that's not all. The quality control of film and prints is also yours. And nobody takes as good care of your photographs as you do. If you demand consistent. spot and sheak-free negatives, chromes and prints, as perfect as they can be, there's really no other way. The famed Tetenal Company has devoted a century to developing and producing highly advanced photographic chemistries of true professional quality. Beseler has cus- tomized them. combined them with ciear, amazingly simple instructions and an ever-growing array of printing and proc- essing aids and equipment. The result is Color by Beseler. This partnership has resulted in the first 2-step color print process, the first print processing drums to use iust I/2 ounces of solution, and the many other innnovations you'll see on the pages which follow. You put a lot of yourself into your photographs. Your crea- tive energies. Your time. And yes, your money. Start getting the most out of them. Start processing and printing with Color by Beseler What to look for in color chemistries We wouldn't blame you if you'd been discouraged from color processing by the stringenf time and especially critical temperature requirements. For example -+r/no at high tem- peratures, which are by themselves difficult to maintain. This kind of precision is hard to achieve under the best of circumstances, close to impossible in most home darkrooms. So the qualities to look for include: lower working tempera- tures-preferably a range, any part of which produces equally good results. Or a choice of working temperatures, which you can choose according to the temperature of the room and how much of a humy you're in. Plus wider tol- erances, whatever the working temperature. Naturally, you'd prefer the smallest number of solutions possible, for the sake of simplicity. Check the following pages. You'll find that most Color by Beseler chemistries offer you all of these things.View original page 2

CN2 Color Negative Chemistry
Lower-temperature, less critical processing with top
professional quality for all current C-41 color negative
films.
Ordinary C-41 chemicals require 4 solutions, with process-
ing at 100oF., accurate to t%o in the developer step. This
kind of accuracy, at a temperature so much above room
temperature, is difficult to maintain. Color by Beseler CN2
chemistry has just 2 chemical solutions plus a wetting agent,
and can be used at temperatures a low as 75oF. (24oC.),
with a l1o range. This means you can often simply process
at ambient room temperature. What could be easier? Or,
warrn chemicals up to 86oF. (30oC.), and processing times
will be % shorter. The 860 level is still far easier to maintain
than 1000. For fastest processing times, of course, you can
still heat up the solution to 1000 if you prefer. No matter
how you use CN2, you still get the same unbeatable nega-
tive quality. Chemicals are available in half liter (17 oz.)and
one liter (34 oz.) sizes, with a capacity of up to six 135-36
rolls of film per half liter. This means you'll find processing
your own film far less expensive than sending it out! Ideal
for Kodacolor" II, Kodacolor@ 400, Vericolors II, Fujicoloro
II, Fujicolorr 400, Eastman Color Negative 5247 and any
other C-41 compatible films. Can also be used to process
the new chromogenic black and white films, Agfa Vario XL" -.Professional and llford XP1

2-Step Color Print Chemistry
Superb color print quality without temperature control
...in 2 steps.
Beseler pioneered two-solution color print processing, and
it revolutionized the craft. Two chemical steps plus a brief
water wash, and you have a finished, ready-to-dry print,
with quality that matches or exceeds any other process.
Perhaps most amazing, you can completely forget tempera-
ture control. Process at any room temperature from 66o to
107oF. and you'll get the same sensational print quality.
All you do is adjust processing times to the temperature
you're using. Naturally, if you're in a hurry, you can heat
the chemicals for extremely fast processing as short as 2
minutes. Widely used by professionals, newspapers and
schools, Color by Beseler 2-Step Chemistry brings out the
maximum color saturation and contrast in any "Type A" color
print paper for printing from negatives-such as Kodak
Ektacolor8 74 or 78RC. Three convenient sizes: one liter
(34 oz.\, four liter (136 oz.), and special four-1-liter packages
for mixing individual liters of chemistry.View original page 3Page 4 · Read text

3-Step Reversal Print
Chemistry
Optimum quality prints from
slides on Kodak 2203" or
the new Ektachrome 14^
paper in just 3 steps!
Now you can make superb
prints from slides at almost any temperature with only 3
chemical solutions. Color by Beseler 3-Step chemistry is
especially formulated for use with Kodak E-14 or 22O3
paper It lets you produce top-quality prints using any of 3
processing schedules:
1. Get ready-to-dry prints in just 11 mintues with 100oF.
processing.
2. Choose the rapid l2-I/2 minute method for processing
with room temperature chemicals and warm water pre-
soak in a Beseler drum.
3. Or try room temperature processing for ultimate con-
venience.
No matter which method you prefer, 3-Step Chemistry is
faster and easier to use and mix than previous reversal
processes. And it mafmizes the tremendous potential of
the Kodak papers for results that are truly sensational-
clean grays, brilliant reds, vivid greens and realistic flesh
tones. 3-Step Chemistry comes in a l-liter (34 oz.) kit or an

and matching self-adhesive identification labels for your stor-
age bottles make processing as easy as it is goof-prbof.
Processing your.E-6 slide films the Beseler way gives you
total control and lets you make your own cusfom adjirst-
ments. You can "push" the film asmuch as two stops. (With
Ektachrome 400 film, this gives you the potential'for ASA
1600 color)- Or you can compensate fof .a one-stop.oveq exposure (like the time you found yourself in a very brig, 3
beach scene with ASA 400 film) simjrly by varying the de;e[-d
oper time. Chemical reversal eliminalei the re6xp-osure step.
Colorby Beseler E 6 Chemistry offers you improved sharp-
ness, finer grain structure and more vivid, accurate color
rendition - in an economical way.
Available in a l-liter (34 oz.) kit, allowing you to mix a full
liter of all solutions at one time, eliminating the need to
re-mix a new batch of developer after the fourth roll, as is
required with some E-6 chemistries.

Processing Drums
Process any brand of color paper with maximum color
quality, evenness and consistency...and in minimum
chemistry. (Great for black-and-white also!)
Here is the ultimate in processing drum design! Prints made
on any color paper, negative-positive or reversal, come out
with top_levels of color saturation and clarity, totally free of
streaks. Yet you need as little as Uz ounces of chemistry
per solution for an 8x1O-compared to three or even four
ounces per print with other processing drums.
Big Chemical Savings in Every Size
Beseler's ingenious (and patented) small-diameter drum
with elevated chemistry trough, makes it allpossible.-{9s1Sn,
With- most print materials, the 8x1O drum requirei as little
as I% ounces of chemistrv, the 11x14 iust 3-ounces. and
the 16x20 a mere 6 ounces. Figure out what you'll save in
chemicals over a period of time, and vou'll find that a Color
by Beseler proces-sing drum pays for ilself in short order! ft

Multiple Print Processing in Smaller Sizes
Removable separators in the drum make it possible to
process two 5x7 or four 4x5 prints in the 8x10 drum. Or
two 8x10's or multiple 5x7 or 4x5 prints in the 11x14 model.
Or two 11x14's or four 8x10's in the I6y2O drum. It adds up
to ultimate speed, convenience, and even greater chemical
economies!
Professional Print Quality
Here are some "secrets" to top quality drum processing:
(1) Chemicals must not leak onto the paper before you
start processing, or there will be streaks and unevenness.
(2) When you do begin processing, chemicals must be uni-
formly applied to the entire length of the paper simultane-
ously. And (3) Chemicals must be drained with maximum
speed at the end of the process. Color by Beseler process-
ing drums achieve all of these objectives. They incorporate

a unique, patented fast-fillfeature and an elevated chemistry
trough, which keeps all chemicals off the paper until you
rollthe drum off its feet and begin agitation. Add two remov-
able end caps, and this also means that Color by Beseler
drums are remarkably easy to clean. No chance of leftover
chemical residues contaminating the next print.

negative while the print is processing. For use wi
brand drums.
Highest quality construction
Both bases have rugged, injection-molded cases which are
durable and highly resistant to chemical staining. High
torque motors turn even the biggest drums with ease, and
internal cooling fans reduce heat, prolonging motor life.
The drive wheels have "traction bands" to eliminate drum
slippage. Another special pair of neoprene bands, supplied
with the bases, slip over the drum, prevent the "driftingl'or
walking off the base that's often a problem with other units.
An adiustable foot makes it easv to level the unit for best
results. The Color by Beseler Motor Base is U.L. approved
and comes with a l2-month limited wananty.
One-way or reversible
The standard motor base rotates the drum in one direction,
which is ideal for most print processing applications. The
Deluxe model adds the option of intermittent reversible
