Exposure factors
The exposure factor scale EE is of the logarithmictype. The intermediateexpo-
sure factors are shown in the illustration.
Example:The filter you want to use is marked " x 4". Llne 11Pthe white mark @
on the EF scale and the "4" as shown in the illustrationon page 31.
When taking a readingwith the LUNA-PRO S, it will automaticallytake
         the exposure factor into account.

Adjusting the exposurevalue
The exposurevalue(EV)gaglg adjustedby liningup the whitemark2E and the
requiredvalueon the scaleEfil.
Example:lf the filteris marked"-2 LW" (EV),set the whitemarkZE to " -2" on
the scale 28 . The adjustmentwill now automaticallybe taken into
        account.

Factors that reduce the exposure time
lf tolerances in the shutter time of your camera or in the sensitivityof the film
require correction of the exposure time, such correctionscan also be set on the
scare Wl.
Example: you have determinedthat in order to obtain a correctly.exposeg.picture,
an biposure time is requiredthat is two_thirdsshorterthan the time indi-
        cateO'Oythe meter.Sei the white mark E5lto coincidewith "+213".The
          correcti6nwill automaticallybe taken into account.

The Zone System
Beside making exposure corrections, there is another method of optimizing_the
contrast range of film and photographicpaper. This method is called the Zone Sys-
tem; it enables the photographerto produce details in the prints that would other-
wise be lost.
Because of its direct scale readout, the LUNA-PRO S is an ideal instrumentof the
Zone Svstem. The dial of the LUNA-PRO S is marked with the zone numbersfrom
I to lX fl. Zone V serves as a point of reference to determine the brightest and
darkest areas of the subject. The deviationsof these areas from the mid-grey zone
(V) determine the exposure correction and any adjustments in the developing
process.
Depending on the contrast range, and also if there is too much contrast, the expo-
sure time requiredto obtain maximum definitionin the important light and dark
areas may deviate as much as one or two stops from the meter reading.
Because a detailed description of the Zone System and its techniques is beyond
the scope of these operating instructions,we recommend the following reference
publications:
      Ansel Adams ,f,he Negative", Christian-VerlagISBN 3-88472-071-6
