Batteries power all the camera's necessary tunctions
including shutter sysfern, exposure control, etc. The FX-D
Quartz will not operate without batteries.
Use two 1.5 V silver-oxidebatteries(SR44,Eveready576,
Ucar 576, MalloryMS-76or equivalent)or alkaline-manganese
batteries(1R44or equivalent).

Whilepressingthe releasebuttonfor the film speeddial, turn
the film speeddial until the ASA film speed numberfor the
f ilm beingused linesup with the indexmark "X1" (orange-
colored).Then,let go of the releasebuttonand check to see
that the dial is properlyset on a click-stop.
The film speed dial must be set to the speed ol the film
loaded in the camera to insure proper exposure.
The ASA (or DIN) film speed ratingis shown on the film box.

Shutter Speed Scale

Focusing with the FX-D Quartz is done by using any
element of its convenient three-way focusing system
consisting of a split-image spot, a microprism collar and
an outer matte f ield.
HorizontalSplit-imageSpot
When usingthe split-imagespot to focus, turn the focusing
ring until the top and bottom halvesof the image merge.lf the
imageis out of focus, the two halveswill not merge.
MicroprismCollar/MatteField
To focuswith the microprismcollar,turn the focusingring
untilthe glitteringeffectdisappearsfrom the collararea,

difficultto focus with their eyeglasseson. There are B types

Your FX-D Quartz is an aperturepriority automatic exposure
camera. You merely set the lens aperture and the camera will
automatically select the correct shutter speed for the
prevailing lighting conditions. The correct shutter speed
selected is indicated by the LEDs in the viewfinder.The

When the exposurecheck button is depressed,the red LEDs in the viewfinderwill light to indicatethe correct I
exposure,or flash to warn of overexposure(with an
audiblewarning)or underexposure.The LEDswill remainlit for 10 secondsupon releaseof the exposure I
check button.However,if the shutteris releasedwhile
the LEDsare lit, they will go off after the exposurehas
been completed
When Any LED Lights from "1000" Through "LT"
exposurewill be correct and you may shoot
immediately.lf one LED lights,the shutterwill operate
at the speedindicatedon the scale.When 2 LEDslight
simultaneously,an intermediateshutterspeed between
the two indicatedsoeedswill be used. lf "30" or a
slowerspeed is indicated,there is a dangerof camera
movementwhen hand-heldexoosuresare made. In this
case, use an aperlurethat will give a readingabove
"30", or use a tripodor other meansof steadyingthe
