Exposuremetering by measurementof subjectbrightnessis basedon the
assumptionof a subject with average reflectance. When the nature of the
subjectdeviatesconsiderablyfrom this normal situation,compensation (JA'?;i - o gof the measuredexposurebecomesnecessary.For example:when large ' t o r ( ^ )partsof the subjectare very bright, a (+) compensationis required;when ro02 \/ n^
largeparts of the subject are dominated by dark tones, a (-) compen-sationis requiredfor a correctlyexposedimage. Especiallywhen using S-* *&
positiveslidefilm the technicallycorrectexposureis not necessarilythe
bestexposureaccordingto the taste of the photographer. Therefore, this Example:Compensateby -1 step
camerais equippedwith an exposurecompensationmode.

With help of the exposurecompensationmode you can use a different
exposurevalue than the one that aperturepriorityhas determined
a utomatically.
You can change the value to either brighter ((+) compensation)or darker
((-) compensation).
The amount you can compensatefor is +/-2 steps,by 1/3 step increments.
Setthe " A" indicatoron the ShutterSpeed Ring (2) to the desiredvalue of
compensation.
When the exposurecompensationmode is active, the indicatorLEDof
the compensatedshutter speed will blink slowly.

With all kinds of subjectswhere bright parts and dark parts are not
     mixed and homogenouslydistributedbut clearlyseparated,the result
of exposuremeteringwill depend on the image composition. For
example:when a wide angle lens is used,a bright sky will contribute
a lot to the metering resultwhen the horizon is in the lower part of +@
the frame. This will probablylead to an underexposureof the main
subject. When, however, the camera looks downward and the horizon
is closeto the upper edge of the frame, the bright sky will contribute
     lessto the exposuremetering.

Therefore, the camera is equippedwith an AE lock function as a
convenientway to make exposuremetering independentof image
     composition.
Use the AE lock function with apertureprioritymode or exposure
compensationmode The exposurevalue will be stored at the
moment when the AE Lock Button (20) is released, and also the LED
