The Gontina lll
is equipped with o convertible Pontor lens. By exchonging the front
elements of this lens the following focol lengths ond speeds cen be
obtoined:
t12.8,45 mm  Stondord lens with which the comero is originolly
                 supplied
f 14, 30 mm     Wide-ongle lens
f 14, 75 mm       Poriroit ond telephoto lens
All three lenses ore hord cooted throughout ond colour corrected.
Since the speed of the wide-ongle ond telephoto lenses is f/4, the
diophrogm must not be fully opened to f/2.8 when these lens units
or"e used. As usuol with our comeros the exposure volue indicoted by
the exposure meter of the Contino lll should be tronsferred to the
exposure volue shutter of the comero.

 ln order to prevent the high-quolity lenses from being domoged or
soiled, the gloss surfoces should never be touched. For storing the
 units the Plexi-gloss contoiners, which ore supplied with them or the
procticol leother cose (see poge 13) should be used.
The viewfinders
The built-in viewfinder of the Contino lll con be used only when the
exposures ore mode with the Pontor f/2.8,45 mm lens. lf the Pontor
30 mm or 75 mm is inserted the correcl speciol viewfinder must be
slipped into the occessory shoe.
Wide-angle and telephoto viewfinders. Both these speciol viewfinders
(wide-ongle finder, order no.422; telephoto finder, order no.423)
con be recognized by the size of the viewfinder lens opposite the
eyepiece. The lorger lens belongs to the wide-ongle finder. Further-

ofso ovoiloble (order no. 425). When looking through the eyepiece
of this viewfinder o bright squore oreo will be seen in the centre of
the imoge field in which oll outlines oppeor double (fig.3). By
turning the milled disc on the side ond pointing the finder towords
o verticol line, such os o tree or the edge of o house, etc., these
double outlines will merge until they coincide completely (fig.4). The
correct distonce con then be reod off from the distonce scole on the
disc of the viewfinder ond should be tronsferred to the Pontor 75 mm.
Universal viewfindef. There is olso o universol viewfinder (order no.426).
When looking through the eyepiece of this finder severol bright frome
lines con be seen (see fig.5).
The two bright ongles on the upper ond lower sides of the centrol
rectongle denote the imoge field of the Steritor-D ottochment for
stereo exposures.

bottom of the cose, while there ore two occessory shoes on the side
wolls to occept the viewfinders. The tele-viewf inder should be
slipped edgewise into the shoe on the reor side wqll so thot the
odiusting wheel is on top (fig. 7). lf the universol viewfinder is inserted
there will be no spoce for onother finder, however.
The fiiters ore slipped underneoth the elostic ribbons in the lid of
the cose.
Filters
With the 30 mm ond 75 mm Pontors cooted Zeiss lkon precision screw-
in filters, diometer" 60 mm, con be used (yellow, yellow-green, oronge,
red, lkolor-B, lkolor-A, ultro-violet).
Lens hood for 75 mm Pantar:

the lens from roin ond snow. The Zeiss lkon lens hood (O 60 mm)
con olso be screwed into the filters. A leother cose for the lens hood,
ovoiloble on request, con be ottoched to tl.l.e strop of the lens cose.
This lens hood should not be used, however, with the t/4,30 mm Pontor
on occount of the wide ongle of view of this lens.
Maintenance of the lenses
The lenses should be cleoned only when it is obsolutely necessory.
Before wiping them with o very soft linen rog, ony dust must be
removed by meons of o soft lens cleoning brush.
Serial numbers
Every lens unit for the Pontor hos o seriol number engroved on its
mount. lt is strongly recommended thot o record should be kept of
these numbers, which moy be of voluoble oid in estoblishing owner-
ship in coses of loss or theft.
